In this Blog I want to illustrate my way of taking photos of airplanes. I have started taking photos at airports at the age of 12 in 1989...with an old pocket camera I my mom had given to me. Of course the planes were very small on the photos, but I was happy (; However, things changed and so did my ambitions. After some analog cameras I finally bought a Canon DSLR (a 300D) in 2004. A 20D followed and since 2009 I use a Canon 50D.
With the improving hardware, I also developed quite distinct criteria for any photos to be included in my collection:
Only photos, that show an airplane in perfect sunlight and without anything blocking the view, will be included. In other words: If there's no sun or somehting is obstructing part of the plane, I won't take a photo, no matter how interesting the plane may be.
To keep the collection interesting and clear, I only include one photo of a given airline and aircraft type (not making any difference between a 737-300 and a 737-900 for example). Also the registrations are of no interest to me.
This results in a rather small collection of photos, but these photos are of high quality and show a big variety of airlines and colours.
The whole collection can be found on flickr
